The Latin American Studies Program at Bucknell University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Latinx Studies to begin in July 2023. The disciplinary field is open. We seek a scholar whose research involves Afro-Latinx populations who identify as having roots in territories across the Americas, including the Caribbean. Special consideration will be given to candidates working on contemporary social movements whose actions critically address issues related to race, ethnicity, citizenship status, class, or gender. Ph.D. is required at the time of employment.

The Latin American Studies Program awards undergraduate major and minor degrees. Its faculty include one Associate Professor and 22 affiliates drawn from all three divisions of the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Latinx Studies, Introduction to Latin American Studies, and upper-level courses in the candidate's areas of expertise, which will be expected to contribute to the program's major and minors and the University's curriculum as a whole—including the general education requirements. Candidates are also expected to have an active research program and are encouraged to elaborate on how they would promote ongoing efforts in the program to facilitate engagement with Latinx communities, through student-centered research, internships, inside-out prison programs, or designated “community-based learning” courses.

To apply, please submit a letter of application; a curriculum vitae; a sample of scholarship; a sample syllabus; and contact information for three references. Review of applications will begin in October 15, 2022 and continue until the position is filled. For additional information and to apply, please go to Bucknell's career site (careers.bucknell.edu).
