Chicana/o Studies Lecturer III

The Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a lecturer position to begin in August 2020. This is a full-time position with specialization in Chicana/o Studies. Applicants must have a PhD in Chicana/o Studies or a related field such as but not limited to American Studies, Anthropology, English, Ethnic Studies, History, Sociology, or Spanish by date of appointment. Applications must show evidence of skill in university level teaching and experience in online teaching. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to diversity through their teaching, research, and service. Our hire will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses required for our online BA degree and our graduate certificate. Advising undergraduate students in our online BA degree is an expectation. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Chicana/o Studies or a related field by date of appointment (August 1 2020).
• Experience teaching online courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated strength in teaching at the university level.
• Knowledge of online course design and pedagogy.
• Ability to mentor diverse students at the undergraduate level.
• Ability to contribute to core areas in the department
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
