Position Description:

  • Teach lower and upper division courses
  • Advise Spanish Majors and Minors
  • Strong commitment to curricular development reflecting recent pedagogical approaches
  • Participate in School of World Languages and Cultures governance
  • Typical teaching load is 12 credits per semester

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Hispanic/ Mexican/ Chicanx Literature from an APA accredited doctoral program by the time of appointment
  • Native of near native linguistic ability in both Spanish and English
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching
  • Ability to teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced Spanish language courses
  • Scholarly achievement or promise
  • Ability to teach effectively in a wide range of courses dealing with Hispanic Literature and Cultures
  • Experience working effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Chicanx literature
  • Experience in Hispanic cultures and studies
  • Experience in Spanish for Heritage Speakers
  • Experience with online instruction
