Tenure-Track: Chicana and Chicano Studies

The César E. Chávez Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate level beginning in the Fall of 2015.

Research interests may include, but are not limited to, transnational and border studies; performance studies; new media and digital humanities; migration, carcerality, and detention; environmental justice; and visual cultures and the visual arts. We especially welcome a background in interdisciplinary research and teaching that emphasizes community-based, decolonial, and collaborative methodologies or engaged ethnography. We seek research rooted in diverse Chicana/o and Latina/o formations such as Critical Ethnic Studies/Latino Studies, Central American Studies, Comparative Racializations, Afro-Latinidades, Indigeneity in the Americas, and/or gender and sexuality studies.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment as well as a record of scholarly achievement appropriate for appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at a research university. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated program of robust research and writing and be effective teachers and mentors at the graduate and undergraduate level. Candidates should be eager to help build an engaged, intellectually transformative, diverse, and growing department, including making a significant contribution to the new (2012), exciting Ph.D. program in Chicana and Chicano Studies.
